Do you think flying Cars like this will ever happen?

Do you think flying Cars like this will ever happen?
We have all heard about flying care for ever, but they never move from Animation video to really available. It seems. Could this be different?

There you go, hope you have deep pockets - aircraft are not cheap plus you will need to
get your pilots licence...

Fardoush 3 months 3 weeks ago

You have actually proven my point. This so called flying Car you have listed, as in ALL
such flying Cars, is not real. Just a drawing or a Video cartoon, with option to pre-order
something in future, which means your Money gone down the drain. So only way you can have
flying Cars is if Governments get behind it in Major way to spend 10s of Billions in the
infrastructure to make such flying Cars possible.

PA28_Pilot 3 months 2 weeks ago

It has been made and given a certificate to fly by the FAA.

PA28_Pilot 3 months 2 weeks ago

This one too has been made and given a certificate to fly. Not sure if you can pre-order
this one.

sales-month.html.

PA28_Pilot 3 months 2 weeks ago

Plenty of multi-rotor stuff under development too. The problem here is that there just
aren't that many people about with $300,000.

PA28_Pilot 3 months 2 weeks ago

Why don't you get in touch with one of the manufacturers? Flying cars and other forms of
flying personal transport could be yours (if you really wanted one). All you need is a lot
of money.

PA28_Pilot 3 months 2 weeks ago

There has been in the past one flying car and there are currently a couple of REAL (not
drawing, cartoon, CGI etc.) offerings. Why don't you get yourself to a show (maybe aero
expo) and have a look at one?

I would bet it really exist, also being electric or with a specific kind of motor of external combustion. Sure it would do much better to pollution, and kids would be safer out to play on the streets.

udazken, but this car does not exist. Well it is a CGI right now. As even a Model of it
flying does not exist. As far as I can see. Or you know something that we do not? If yes,
lets see it.

World is looking forward for change . Electric cars are on their way. But stoking energy still a problem. How much energy do you think a plane like this would use? So much that hopefully it won't happen. Think green !

This question is not about Energy, it is about Flying Cars, and whether they will every
happen? And to be more exact whether this Flying Car by Terrafugia is just a CGI dream, or
whether it can really come to Market?
Of course a Flying Car, will use Energy, and this Car by Terrafugia supposedly runs all
on Electricity, so it is very Green in that sense.

Fardoush 3 months 3 weeks ago

But we are talking about Flying Cars here. And as much as I like to have one, I think they
will remain a CGI unless Governments put a major push behind making the easy flying
possible.

Yes, sure... Flying cars do exist.

But I think your real question is will the general public be able to use a flying car. Perhaps sometime in the distant future. As I commercial pilot, I can certainly say that flying an airplane takes a lot of skill, training and cost.

Yes, I think there are 3 issues here as you have well noted.
That is 1st issue is that will a sortof Flying Car exist that will be demonstrated.
Yes, this will. But will be a demo only.

2nd is, will the general public be able to buy it at affordable prices. NO. Answer is no
for at least 100 years more I am sure. Because as you noted, when the Auto pilot on a
flying car stops working then you need to be able to fly it which requires skills of a
trained pilot.

Fardoush 3 months 3 weeks ago

"Yes, sure... Flying cars do exist. "
REALLY! Where? I would love to buy one if they did actually exist.

Not in my lifetime, but they could possibly happen. There are other things I never thought I would see and I have.

Well we could actually have them really soon if our Government spent less of our Money on
making Weapons to Kill people and spent some of that on making Innovative new things such
as Flying Cars which require massive Government spending to happen since the challenge is
not just the flying car but more so the flying regime which would allow easy flying of
such cars without people needing to get a fly license.

The first thing here is that flying cars have existed in the past and a new one has recently been launched http://www.aeromobil.com/. That said you do need a pilots licence to fly.
There will never be any possibility of being allowed to fly on a driving licence.

But this new Flying Car, is flown totally on Auto Pilot mode and flown to its destination
with GPS controls. So no flying license is needed based on that fact. Well that it is what
the manufacturer of this plane is at least saying, which makes sense. So all you have to
do is to punch in the destination, and it will Auto Take off, Auto fly and Auto land at
that destination.

PA28_Pilot 4 years 3 weeks ago

Just as the airliners do most of the time but the folks at the controls still need a
pilots licence.

PA28_Pilot 4 years 3 weeks ago

To reiterate the pilot is there for when all the lovely automated systems go wrong and
they do from time to time, the pilot is trained and able to:
1. Fly the aircraft
2. Navigate to the destination
3. Talk to radar control.
4. Talk to the destination airfield
5. Fly the hold
6. Land
7. Deal with emergencies
and much more besides

PA28_Pilot 4 years 3 weeks ago

And I am not aware of any national authority clearing GPS landings!

Faxonly 4 years 3 weeks ago

Yes, you make a valid point that the Killer problem of the Computer based so called Flying
Car is that on occasion that the Computer cannot Auto Fly the craft, then you have a
whole bunch of dead people, unless the driver is licensed to fly. And that will happen
inevitably, that is the Computer flying such craft will fail in one way or another, as you
can see from number of times that your Computer crashes per Week or your Mobile phone
crashes per day,

You did notice that this Video is a Cartoon (CGI) and not real! Did you? So then you have your answer.

Yes, of course I noticed that it is a CGI and not an actual Video of this flying car.
Still that does not mean that it cannot be real.

I dont see how it can happen, in any serous way, given the problem of Air collision. Unless somehow we come up with an Automated system that self avoids planes crashing into one another, which is not realsitcaly possible since we still have Big Jets crashing into one another all the time.

But if this becomes really available, put me down as a buyer :)

Yes, that is the part that worries me too, or makes me think this will never happen in any
serious ways. That is a few of these flying, yes Ok. But Millions of these flying, no
based on the Air collision problem, specially with a Big passenger carrying Jet liner.
